More People Hide Their Partner Around Christmas

If you’ve ever felt like your partner avoids introducing you to his friends or even posting a picture of you two to his social media — you’re not alone. Numbers show that this behavior pattern becomes especially prominent during the holiday season when we all feel that society expects us to have the perfect significant one.

Most people who are being pocketed suspect their partners of being ashamed of them or having an affair. However, experts say that insecurity, jealousy, or controlling nature are much more frequent reasons for pocketing.

A lot of people who feel like they’re being pocketed never express their feelings, which can have devastating effects on their mental wellbeing. Fear of rejection came up as number one among fears of those who date, according to research done by eHarmony.

While we all know what this is, or we were involved in such relationships, love experts now have a term for it: pocketing. So despite all the excuses you might find for this, if you go through the holiday season without receiving any invitations from their part, it’s definitely a major red flag you need to be aware of.
