Europe is now home to the Vaccine-free: Love (Impffrei: Love), a new dating site for unvaccinated singles. The app has recently surpassed 12,000 users and keeps growing.
It came as a response to the growing number of European countries introducing vaccine passes for people above 16. Without this pass, one cannot enter bars, cinemas, hotels, or any entertainment/leisure facility in general.
Vaccination status has influenced online dating profiles since the vaccines were first introduced. However, all major international dating platforms joined to promote vaccination as a way out of the pandemic.
Dating giants such as Tinder, OKCupid, and Match joined with the US government in a cause to raise vaccination awareness. These platforms offer a range of features for vaxxed users — from badges and stickers to indicate vaccination status to ‘rewards’ in the form of additional super likes.
However, Tinder officials add that the company introduced these features because there were indications that a significant number of their users had already included vaccination status in their bios. It became a big topic, and the company decided to follow what its users indicated.
According to Tinder’s data for the first half of 2021, the term ‘vaccine’ was used 149% more across the platform than it was previously the case. Other platforms, such as Meetic, reported similar increases in the interest of their users in this topic.
